About the Jill M. Taylor Dance
Company

The Jill M. Taylor Dance Company is a 501(C)(3) nonprofit organization whose goal is to spread appreciation of the arts in North Carolina by providing public performance opportunities to talented dancers of all ages. The Company strives to offer the community the opportunity to enjoy family-friendly ballets at a reasonable cost.

Dancers ranging in age from 3 to adult perform in this richly costumed, full-length production of the annual family favorite. Auditions to be in The Nutcracker are open to all dancers in the community. Dancers in Raleigh, Durham, Rolesville, Youngsville and Wake Forest participate in our production, providing our dancers the unique opportunity to improve their own dance technique and further their dance education. Being a part of the Jill M. Taylor Dance Company is an enriching experience for dancers of all ages in the production.

How is the Jill M. Taylor Dance Company Supported?

Our annual production is supported by the dancers participating in the performance, a volunteer parent guild, and cherished local businesses and community members. Our dancers and their families make a commitment to the ballet with their time and money. The dancers rehearse every weekend starting in September through the performance date in December. Each dancer pays a fee of $350 that is used to offset advertising, theater rental, and costuming, and each dancer’s family commits to at least one adult joining the parent guild. The parent guild donates baked goods for an on-site concessions stand, organizes the silent auction, staffs the concessions and boutique, obtains sponsorships and donations, loads, transports, and unloads the equipment, props, and costumes, acts as stagehands, and provides additional logistics and moral support. 

Aside from this support from our dancers and their families, we rely heavily on sponsorships, donations, and advertisements from local businesses and community members.

We have three ways you can support Jill M. Taylor Dance Company’s 2024 production of The Nutcracker: sponsorship, donating items to our silent auction, and purchasing advertising space in our program. We welcome and appreciate every one of our donors, no matter the size of their contribution. We also offer exciting, exclusive perks at our highest donor levels. Since we are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, your donation may be tax deductible (consult your tax professional for your specific circumstance).

Donate Items for the Silent Auction

Our silent auction has generated excitement among our audiences since we introduced it in 2022. We are pleased to improve our silent auction this year by transitioning bids to an online platform. Not only will this allow us to generate excitement well in advance of our show date and simplify bidding, but it will also allow members of our community who are unable to attend our shows to participate. The silent auction can only happen because of the generous donation of goods and services from our community and local businesse

We aim to make our silent auction accessible to a wide range of bidders and welcome a diverse selection of goods and services, with a special focus on local businesses. Gift cards are welcome donations, especially for restaurants and services; the value of the gift card should be enough to cover a typical meal for 2 or more or the full cost of a typical service. Donated items may be combined with other items to create a package or basket.

We’re seeking items that are completely stand-alone, with no additional obligations or commitments. We want to ensure that our bidders can immediately enjoy the items they win, and items like coupons or discounts that require an additional longer-term commitment or membership might not meet this criteria. We are happy to help suggest items that will be attractive to our audience and positively reflect on your business!
