Taylor Academy of Dance offers the serious dance student the chance to audition for our Junior or Senior Dance Company. The purpose of the Junior and Senior Dance Company is to provide serious and talented young dancers more opportunities to perform while taking additional dance classes so they can improve their dance technique and further develop as a performer and artist. Company dancers take over 9 hours of dance each week while studying ballet, pointe, classical variations, pas de deux, contemporary and jazz. In addition to performing with the company and in full length productions, each dancer performs a solo on stage to showcase what they have learned during the year. All company dancers perform in Jill M. Taylor Dance Company’s production of the Nutcracker as well as participate in the Winter Festival at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. Our Senior Dance Company adjudicates and has been accepted by the University of North Carolina School of the Arts to perform at the Stevens Center in Winston Salem, North Carolina for the past ten years.
I have been dancing with Ms. Jill since she opened her studio. She is such an amazing teacher and an amazing person. The way she explains things really helps you see what you are doing wrong and how to fix it. Ms. Jill makes classes fun for everyone and we still learn a whole lot. Everything i have learned about dance i have learned from Ms. Jill she has also taught me some very important life lessons. I am so glad she is my teacher!
This is my first year at Taylor Academy of Dance, and although the year is just getting started, I already love it! The studio has a very professional, warm & welcoming environment. All the students are very sweet. Miss Jill takes the time to get to know each & evry girl, and give them the individual attention they need to improve not only in their dancing, but in their self-confidence. She is an encouraging, compassionate, reassuring, and talented woman! She has really opened my eyes, and I am so happy and excited to see what the future has in store for me!
